Certificat d'Acceptation du Québec (CAQ) automatically renewed until Dec. 31st
The Quebec government has announced an uplifting measure for international students in the province of Quebec. The Certificat d'Acceptation du Québec, which is a provincial approval certificate required for students wanting to study in Quebec, is automatically extended until Dec 31st. for existing students.
Immigration Quebec has mentioned that their intention is to not penalize international students who were not able to complete their studies in the Winter 2020 and Fall 2020 semesters due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
To put it simply, if you already had a CAQ which expires between April 30th, 2020 to December 31st, 2020, your CAQ is automatically extended until the end of the year.
This measure does not apply to study permits, which are processed by the federal government. Students with expiring study permits will still have to renew their study permits in order to continue studying in Canada.
